As the self-regulatory body of commercial forensic practitioners in South Africa, the Institute’s core obligation to the public and industry is the regulation of its members. In terms of this regulatory obligation, members must at all times adhere to the values of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, applicable legislation and the law in general, as well as the Code of Ethics of the Institute in the execution of their duties.
Code of Ethics & Rules of Conduct
The purpose of this Code of Ethics is to promote an ethical culture and high ethical standards in the commercial forensic profession, in order to enhance the image of the profession and the Institute.
The Code of Ethics includes two essential components:
- Principles that are relevant to the profession and the practice of commercial forensics;
- Rules of Conduct that describe norms of behaviour expected of commercial forensic practitioners.
