The ICFP Board of Directors is proud to announce the 2021 Virtual Center of Excellence (COE) workshop on 06 May 2021.

Topic: Cybercrimes Act (which is awaiting the signature of the President).

The workshop includes a case study and a short test/quiz at the end of the day to test the assimilation of knowledge.

Presenter: Adv Jacky Fick

Jacky has been involved in the drafting of this Bill since its inception and is currently contracted to assist the EU/SAPS with translating the SAPS Cyber strategy into operational initiatives. 

Workshop Outcomes

At the end of the course, the delegate should be able to understand:
  1. The origins and structure of the legislation;
  2. The type of offences in the Act:  this covers what has traditionally been in the ECT Act and in more detail the new provisions such as those pertaining to Malicious Communications, specifically sections 14 – 22 of the Bill;
  3. The classification of offences, as well as applicable international treaties;
  4. Sentencing;
  5. Jurisdiction;
  6. The concept of “fit and proper investigators”;
  7. Search warrants under the Bill;
  8. The implications of section 54 of the Act on Electronic Communications Service Providers and Financial Institutions;
  9. The role and function of the Designated Point of Contact which SAPS must create; and
  10. What new steps are proposed to ensure effective mutual assistance in cyber-related investigations?

 Delegates will have the opportunity to interactively discuss important issues and ask relevant questions.

CPD Hours

Delegates will earn 6 CPD hours

Cost

ICFP members: R950 +VAT

The cost for non-members is R1,500 + VAT per delegate.

Group discount:  Organisations with 5 and more registrations will receive a 10% discount.
