The ICFP Board of Directors has pleasure in inviting you to an industry breakfast event on 18 November 2019 at Nedbank Menlyn Maine, Pretoria.This is an industry networking event intended to foster conversation and learning.
 
We are very excited to welcome Mr Willie Hofmeyr as our key-note presenter.
 
 
Mr Willie Hofmeyr obtained his BA in Economics at the University of Cape Town in 1976, followed by a Masters degree in Economic History from the same university in 1984. In 1989 he also obtained an LLB from the University of Cape Town. He was admitted as an attorney in 1991.

In May 1999 Mr Hofmeyr was appointed by the President as a Special Director of Public Prosecutions to head the Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) of the NPA. The AFU was established in the Office of the National Director of Public Prosecutions. It has the power to seize assets that are the proceeds of crime or that have been used to commit crime. Its main focus is organised crime, drug-related crime, serious violent crime and serious economic crime and corruption.

In 2001 he was also appointed as Deputy National Director of Public Prosecutions (DNDPP) and remained as head of the Asset Forfeiture Unit until August 2015. He was responsible for the Legal Affairs Division until March 2019. He is now responsible for the Asset Forfeiture Unit. Mr Hofmeyr also served as head of the Special Investigating Unit from August 2001 to November 2011.
