Wham, Scam, Thank You Ma’am – Why Do We keep Falling For Fraudsters?

International Anti-Corruption Day is commemorated annually on 9 December in recognition of the United Nations Convention against Corruption which was signed in Mexico in 2003.
This day provides an opportunity for political leaders, governments, legal bodies and lobby groups to join forces against corruption. On this day anti-corruption advocates will engage the general public to effectively fight against corruption and fraud in communities.

We always think we won’t fall victim to a scam. We’re too smart, too well-educated, and too worldly-wise. While all that may be true, we’re also human, and it’s human nature to be trusting. Unfortunately, scammers capitalise on this loophole in our humanity. The truth is, that scammers are becoming smarter and more patient, often playing a long game and relying on a set of carefully orchestrated moves to build trust before the final strike. It’s high time we learn to beat them at their own game.
